 | What's happening at Magpie Gully? It just gets better and better each year. We have achieved better tonnage and even better olive oil. Its always so wonderful to taste our new season olive oil when it is at its absolute best with all those beautiful aromas and flavours available to tempt our palate. We have won two medals at the 2009 Spring Sydney Royal Fine Food Show with a Silver for our Maggie's Blend and Bronze for our Manzanillo. We are so thrilled to have won these awards as it means for us we are producing some of the best extra virgin olive oil in Australia. 2010 has seen Magpie Gully Olives achieve even more accolades with the Adelaide Review Olive Harvest. We have been named as finalists and tasting notes have been published in the Adelaide Review Top 100 wines and Olive Harvest Book. Our 2011 harvest has been an absolute bumper crop, we have had a particularly good fruit set right across the grove, even though quite late this season with the very cool conditiions experienced here on the Fleurieu. Our new season extra virgin olive oil and olives will be available at the Royal Adelaide Show this week (Tuesday 6th September) and also at the Yankalilla Show and Goolwa Alive over the October long weekend. A full range of our products are always available at the Victor Harbor Farmer's Market each Saturday 8 am - 12.30 pm. |
We have introduced the 2 litre oil cask, just like the wine cask. Its a fantastic way to package bulk olive oil because it has a non-drip tap, the freshness is sealed in (no air can get to the oil) and of course the oil is out of the light, meaning the oil cannot oxidise, just the thing for the pantry shelf. This method of packaging proved very, very popular and is available now with our new season extra virgin olive oil. Our table olives have been a real success. The new method of packaging in stand-up resealable bags has proved to be an excellent innovation for us. All new season products are now available, check out our very competitive prices on Our Products page. ♦ The Victor Harbour Times - For Phil and Mary Beatty of Magpie Gully olives it is all about using the best farming practices to produce the highest quality produce. ♦ Extra Virgin Olive Oil - Magpie Gully Olives has also introduced a new extra virgin olive oil, Maggie’s Blend. We have always specialised in two single variety extra virgin olive oils, now we have added a beautiful blend to compliment Magpie Gully’s list of olive oils. An excess of our green table olives, deciding to press them for oil and finding ourselves with something extra special, sowed the seed to create this really interesting blend. Maggie’s Blend is a limited release olive oil sold in 250ml bottles, great to pop in that special present. Maggie's Blend won two Gold medals at State and Regioinal level, so a very pleasing result. Now a silver in the 2009 Spring Sydney Royal Fine Food Show. Our products area contains more information and how you can purchase. |
